Why did Even listen to a talking snake instead of saying "Holy crap a talking snake"?

It seems to me like she should have been surprised to hear a talking snake. I mean if Satan was supposed to be incognito, perhaps a talking animal was not the best disguise? I'm just saying, he's no Sam Fisher.
